My Story

Why I Began My Journey Into Healthcare

My story began in 2011, a year that forever changed my life. It was then that my beloved Grandma was diagnosed with breast cancer. This news struck a chord deep within me, stirring a whirlwind of fears and questions. Would she be okay? Was this genetic? Could I be next?

Determined to find answers and support my Grandma, I plunged into the world of health and wellness. Living with my parents at the time, I spent countless hours after work in my bedroom, researching every aspect of health that could potentially aid her. During this quest, I stumbled upon acupuncture. It was like discovering a hidden gem; this ancient practice explained the body in a way that resonated deeply with me, offering a perspective starkly different from Western medicine. It made perfect sense to my inquisitive mind.

That very night, brimming with excitement, I marched downstairs to the living room where my parents were engrossed in their favourite show, Coronation Street. With a conviction that surprised even me, I declared, “I’m going to train to be an acupuncturist.”

My parents looked at me as if I’d lost my mind, perhaps thinking this was another one of my whimsical ideas. But their scepticism didn’t deter me. For the first time in a long while, I felt a spark of passion. Until that moment, I had been drifting, working as a debt collector, finding solace only in my colleagues.

That night, I took to Google and discovered a serendipitous opportunity: a Chinese medicine college just five minutes from my house, a place I never knew existed. Within two weeks, I had an appointment to learn more about their upcoming course, and within a few months, I was enrolled and diving headfirst into my studies.

The next few years were a whirlwind of dedication and learning. My journey even took me to a hospice, where I spent six months working with cancer patients. This experience was profoundly humbling and eye-opening. Through my growing knowledge of Chinese medicine, I began to see the silent stories etched in their lives, stories of significant events and unexpressed emotions that seemed intertwined with their diagnoses.

My Grandma’s battle with cancer had unknowingly set me on a path of discovery and purpose. The fears that once haunted me had transformed into a deep-seated drive to understand and heal. And in the process, I found a calling that not only helped my Grandma but also countless others, including myself.

Developing My Passion

Specialising in Fertility

My journey into supporting women with fertility began almost unconsciously. As my knowledge of this remarkable field deepened, I encountered an increasing number of fertility and women’s health issues. Seeing the incredible results my treatments achieved filled me with inspiration and led me to further specialise in gynaecology and obstetrics.

Years passed, and my practice flourished beyond what I could manage alone. I realised I could no longer support all these women by myself, so I decided to open a fertility acupuncture clinic with a dedicated team. My goal was to support as many women as possible on their fertility journeys. Within 18 months, the clinic had grown significantly, prompting me to expand our services with a diverse team of therapists.

Today, our team includes seven acupuncturists, a hormone and nutrition coach, a trauma-trained practitioner, a fertility reflexologist, and a womb massage specialist. We also offer advanced functional medicine testing. Together, we provide a holistic, well-rounded approach to help women on their paths to motherhood.

I could never have imagined where those days of researching in my bedroom would lead me, but I’m so happy I took that leap of faith. With many successful pregnancies now behind me, I don’t plan to stop anytime soon.

“If you want to relax, watch the clouds pass by if you’re laying on the grass, or sit in front of the creek; just doing nothing and having those still moments is what really rejuvenates the body…”
